Turning Pro is good. But that’s not entirely true when Sony Ericsson turned its magnificent Vivaz Symbian touchscreen into one. It seems its idea of turning Pro comes with a price. As every one knows, the Vivaz is one stunning touchscreen handset that not only stands out in terms of aesthetics but also as one of the brightest stars that ever came out of the Symbian smartphone stable. Its new Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro out in the second quarter is something else. You can find mobile phone deals for the Vivaz Pro by shopping online.

It seems that slapping a “Pro” suffix on the venerable Vivaz means gaining heft and weight from 12.5mm at 97g in the Vivaz to 15mm at 117g on the pro that now sports a full QWERTY half shell slider form factor. Is that good or bad? For a market that wants a tactile QWERTY keyboard, it’s good, but not to a market that can live with its virtual touchscreen QWERTY on a slim and light body. Compare mobile broadband to stay connected on the move.

It also means losing 30 minutes of talk time on the same 1200mAh Li-Po battery. Worst, being a Pro also axed 3 megapixels off the Vivaz’s stunning 8-megapixel camera to end up in the slightly above average camera phone category with 5 megapixels. Above average because it still retains the HD 720p video recording with continuous autofocus and video light as well its autofocus/touch focus, face/smile detection, LED flash and geo tagging features. Find the best Dell Streak deals online by comparing phone deals.

Outstanding Features Up Close

Apart from gaining weight and losing some battery minutes and pixel count in the camera, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro is, well, a Vivaz. Like the Vivaz, it gets the same PowerVR SGX graphics processor that powered the earlier Satio but clocked at a higher 720 MHz. It shares the same internal as the Vivaz at 75 MB and microSD external storage expandability for up to 16GB. It also comes with a free 8 GB microSD card included in its sales kit. But as mentioned above, the same 1200 mAh Li-Po battery that fuels the Vivaz yields 30 minutes shorter at 12.5 hours of talk time on 2G.

Images and video captures get displayed on the same 3.2-inch TFT LCD resistive touchscreen with Wide-VGA resolution and a gorgeous 16 million color depth typical of what the Symbian S60 5th edition OS can support. Multimedia comes as another highlight starting with its media playback support for MP4 and H.264/H.263 video codecs and MP3, eAAC+, WAV and WMA audio formats with TrackID music recognition. It also comes with a stereo FM radio with RDS, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth A2DP for wireless stereo listening and a TV-out (VGA resolution) port for external TV or monitors.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro is a 3G phone on the dual band UMTS (900 / 2100) radio with HSDPA at 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA at 2 Mbps data connectivity speeds. It is also a quad band GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) with class 10 GPRS/EDGE on 2G for international roaming on the 2G/GSMetworks. Hotspot surfing gets WiFi 802.11b/g with DLNA while high speed local data transfers get Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0 support. SatNav functionality comes from an integrated GPS receiver with A-GPS, WisePilot voiced navigation system and Google Maps.

Ericsson mobile provides the latest specially designed broadband module for high-speed wireless connectivity for consumer electronics devices or consumer electronics (CE) of new generation. The availability of these anticipate the demands of broadband technologies (broadband) that are increasingly popular.

This CE module can be implemented for the e-book readers, GPS navigators, and other popular portable consumer electronic devices. Module has the potential to be integrated into the media player, durable goods and more, as mobile broadband has become part of everyday life.

Vice President Ericsson Mobile Broadband Modules, Mats Norin, said, all devices can be connected in accordance with the requirements of telecom technology that already exists. C3607w module was launched at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF).

This module is part of collaboration with Intel, Ericsson announced years ago and brought HSPA mobile data solutions to Intel’s platform “Moorestown” based MIDS. Ericsson and Intel will together bring computing and telecommunications industry into the mobile broadband ecosystem of consumer electronics devices.

Unti now C3607w is the smallest mobile broadband module, lightweight and fast, and able to work with the speed of 5.75 Mbps and lower energy consumption by 40 percent compared with the previous modules. Equipped with features wake-on-Ericsson that enables wireless wake-up command from the sleep mode, this CE module also makes sets of security applications and new messages. Ericsson Module C3607w consumer electronic devices will be available on the first quarter of 2010.
