Virgin Media vs. Come back to BT

I keep running across advertisements saying “Come back to BT.” While I appreciate that BT is the nation’s oldest and largest telecoms company, I am not so sure why I should (or shouldn’t) make the switch. To begin with, I have a new house with shiny new Virgin Media Fibre optic cable installed. I get crystal clear digital TV reception and the package price I pay for TV, Broadband and Home Phone is very reasonable. So why should I switch phone line providers?

Because I can save even more money on my phone line service when bundled with other home communications through BT. Right now BT is offering an unlimited Talk, Unlimited Broadband and 4 category packages of Digital TV plan that starts at just 23.99 pounds for the first three months. The plan called Talk, Surf and Watch Unlimited then rises to 48.99 per month for the remaining 15 months of the contract.

This would be quite a bit less than I am paying now. Also, BT will connect me for free on this plan. Considering BT’s stated intention to have 90% of their customers up to 40MB download speed in the near future through their FTTC fibre optic network. It may turn out that BT is the best value for home communications for the future.
